The Supremacy of Christ III

Hebrews 1: 1-4
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s nature. Jesus upholds the universe by the word of His power.

Jesus is God and He laid the foundations of the world. Jesus Christ is supreme over all things. When Jesus’ disciples asked Him to show them the Father, Jesus responded, ”If you have seen Me, you have seen the father” (John 14:9). Jesus is God!

Christ is the head of the church, the head of God’s children. Christ is the firstborn of the dead. He is the first who was resurrected, never to die again, and thus conquered death. So that in everything he might be preeminent. Jesus Christ is Lord over the heavens and the earth, over the church, over death and over everything!
