“So, we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished. So, what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose (Hebrew 2:1-4, NLT).
From the above scripture let’s focus on; “So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation…?”
The word Salvation means “the saving of human beings from death and separation from God by Christ death and resurrection.”
In order to bring man Salvation, deliverance from Satan tyranny, God had to put a plan in place, step out of eternity into time, put on flesh, became a man, tempted in all points as a man yet without sin. God went beyond stepping into a sinful world. He suffered, died, was placed in a grave and went into hell to deal with Satan by taking from him the keys of death and the grave. Our Salvation was costly. It was not the blood of goats and bulls of animals or sinful man.
Hebrews 10:3 declares; “For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins (NLT).” And 1 Peter 1:19, “But with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect (NLT).”
Because of the statement of the text “…what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation…?” We must in turn ask ourselves the question, what is so great about this salvation?
The answer; first, salvation is great because in our humanity we could not redeem ourselves from the sinful blood line we inherited from Adam. Second, because of the cost of salvation, third, because of who offered salvation to us and the great benefits we receive from this salvation!
Let not ignore this great salvation by devaluing it.
